When IBPSA recently asked its pet care provider and vendor members for book recommendations, Ken Karmie of K9Grass by ForeverLawn quickly chimed in with an excellent one – The Speed of Trust: The One Thing That Changes Everything by Stephen M.R. Covey. Ken shared why he likes this book so much:
“Everyone within an organization has a role and certain responsibilities. There are a lot of individuals that come together to make it work. When each person is competent, responsible, effective, and trustworthy, the inner workings go very smoothly and the organization as a whole is a tremendously effective machine at moving towards its goals. When there is incompetence, communication, or dependability problems, it is very common for individuals to have to go beyond their area of responsibility to ensure things are getting done. The more someone has to follow up and check in on these kinds of things, the less efficient they are. TRUST is the key and the book explains what is required to form and operate with a high level of trust. The efficiency and quality of life improvement that comes with it is awesome.
“I have read this book three times and every time I read it I think that everyone needs to read it. Any organization that buys into what is being communicated in this book will no doubt improve significantly, which will show itself with improved results in quality, efficiency, competitiveness, ability to react to the market, and profitability.”
