Fast Bites (Big D) – December 17, 2018

Every Monday, IBPSA’s founder Carmen Rustenbeck shares with membership her “fast bites” of pet care industry news, tips, and reminders. Here’s her latest for December 17, 2018…

Good Monday, IBPSA Members!

I am writing this from the road in Dallas, Texas, where I’ve been working with Ben Day to be ready to hit the ground running on January 1st when he officially comes on board as our new COO. As I announced at conference, I could not be more excited to have Ben as part of the IBPSA Team. Many of you know Ben as our long-time safety adviser. With his regular “Every Day Safety” articles in Pet Care Pro Quarterly and his role in making our Risk Management & Safety Facility Certification Program a reality, he is the guy when it comes to pet care facility safety, as well as the ins and outs of running a successful business.

Speaking of Dallas, this is where we’ll be holding our next Pricing For Profit workshop in February. As I’ve written about previously, the pace of economists predicting a recession by 2020 is picking up. I don’t say this to be a downer, but to encourage everyone to be prepared for it. Attending our Pricing For Profit workshop in 2019 should be in your business plans. We limit the class size to help ensure everyone gets the attention they deserve. We’re still two months out, but the workshop is already a quarter filled, so don’t delay. Get registered, get through the holiday busy season, recover a bit in January, and then get to Dallas to make sure you have a plan in place for your business and your personal future no matter where the economy takes us. Learn more at https://www.ibpsa.com/p4p and see the “fast inspiration (that sticks with you)”, below.

Also speaking of Dallas, I saw that K9 Cinemas has opened here. This “dog-friendly movie theater” has concrete floors “which makes for an easy clean up if a dog has an accident.” The theater had its first showing December 7th. Right now, the dog-friendly viewings are only on select weekends, but the owner says: “From there, the vision is to be open every day…If no one shows up, I don’t care. I have a theater where Bear (his dog) and I can go watch movies.” Not exactly a solid financial plan but, yeah, I think we all get that. You can read more about K9 Cinemas here

SO much is happening by the end of this month, I’m rounding up your reminders here:
